The intel map has a mode that allows you to only show portals that you have never sent a damage report from. This can be used to help find portals that you have never captured. For example, I went to Balboa Park recently, and I got most of the portals, but there were a few I missed (or a couple I couldn't reach).

If you look at all the portals in the area, it looks like this:

Now if you switch the mode (upper left on the map) to only show portals that you have never sent a damage report from, it looks like this for me:

So using this map, I could fairly easily find the portals that are probably unique captures for me.

  2. Great tip, thank you!

Great tip, but it Sounds like you stayed in your car.... there are 118 portals at Balboa park. And another 100+ at the San Diego zoo.

A few of those were portals that no longer existed in the game. :)

  6. Based on a review of my no damage report portals, I believe that it is still counting portals that I have not captured but had a resonator on. I want to know what portals i haven't captured for pioneer, and I know that info is in there because damage report list ownership. Can you make a filter for this?

Unfortunately there isn't a way to do it because the owner of the portal wasn't being captured from the emails. Could maybe see about doing it going forward, but the old ones no because the emails themselves aren't kept, so no way to reprocess them to grab ownership data.

You are talking about unique captures, not unique hacks which is what the "unique portals" thing was designed for. I've made some changes so that portal ownership is captured going forward so that we can incorporate a unique captures tool as well.

This is really fascinating! Very useful for sure!

  10. Any timeline (updates) on when you think you have the slightly moved or name edited portals issue resolved?

    Cheers

I haven't had time to finish this yet, but it's high up on the to-do list.

    Stats geek question

Has the Via Lux Explorer challenge changed the way people play?

Obviously some people are going to great lengths to get a huge number of uniques - the agent-stats website shows some people going crazy

    upload_2016-9-20_10-27-23.png

but the average player won't be running up stats like that.

From the data you receive are people going to more new places and working on their non-uniques less or have they increased their play to include the new ones?

Without digging into the data exhaustively, it looks like people have just increased overall play. If you look at the stats page, you can see about a 60% increase in attacks Outgress has seen day to day starting September 1st. Before the peaks of attacks logs were anomaly days, now the highest days are weekend in September.

That's a really solid block pink in September. I'd love to know how that's interpreted back at Niantic - will we see more challenges? how are they clipping the ticket?

Who knows, but if I were them, I'd probably start running more "monthly challenges". If I saw 60%+ more usage out of something I ran, and all it cost me was about $20 worth of time to have an artist whip up a badge... I'd definitely do more in the future. Hah

Geez, waiting for the RES to wash/hit/take down my portals so they can show up as "owned" is frustrating when you're in an EN dominated city
Still back home you can count on your fingers the minutes before some agents will get in their car because you took down their pet portal

If you have some you want added before they get attacked, send me the intel map links to the portals privately.

Thanks but it's all good, it's generally high churn. I'm just looking at having to work harder to get the pioneers I need to go platinum, only 1100 needed!

When you look at the portals I've owned compared to those I've never owned you can see that I've made some good inroads even though I've been doing missions and general wandering around without targeting the ones I've never owned.
